March 2006

The new season started with a weekend to Lyme Regis in early March - quite a good turnout considering the time of year, no one was brave enough to camp so we took a couple of very nice B&B's and met - with the usual enthusiasm of people about to be half frozen to death in the name of sport! - in the car park on the Cob at 9ish on the Saturday morning. We all put our kit together and set off towards the Baggy with Geoff as boatman (having only been back from Egypt for 7 hours he didn't seem to mind the lack of sleep and almost sub-zero temperatures)! We reached the site, got kitted up and duly dropped down the shot line - well to say the vis was poor would be a bit of an understatement - we knew we had reached the wreck when Paul hit his head on the boilers! - it was like diving in the dark with your eyes closed! Needless to say we didn't stay down for long, and the rest of the day was spent in the pub! Sunday's attempt was better with a good dive had by all - except Anthony, whose alcohol consumption the night before mixed with the thought of dropping into the freezing sea wearing just a semi dry suit, got the better of him and spent the latter half of the boat journey feeding the fish!

Wet Weekend

The Plymouth weekend was a total washout - force 7/8 winds meant that the boat didn't even get launched! So all day Saturday was spent in the pub with nothing to do but eat ad drink! - rotten job but someone had to do it!! Still it wasn't so bad.at least we didn't have to wash the boat out! And we parked it up at Salcombe ready and waiting for Easter - lets all hope the weather doesn't let us down for that one, but there's always a pub ..isn't there?!!
